The standards/regulations for the safe storage of controlled drugs and drugs & medicines is an area that is often misunderstood. Pharmacy Equipment Direct® cabinets are designed to conform to all relevant legislation.

Controlled Drugs Storage

  • The Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 1973
  • BS 3621:2007 Thief resistant lock assembly
  • 1.5mm sheet steel construction
  • Anti pick and drill, key retaining six pin cylinder lock compliant with BS3621
  • Continuously welded along all joins
  • All edges lapped inwards around the margins of apertures and around the edges of doors and service hatch covers in such a manner as to be inaccessible from the outside
  • Door to have an internal flange or rebate running the entire length of the door to prevent access without unlocking, in the event of damage to the hinge
  • Lock bolt to be protected against cutting or manipulation from outside
  • Fixed to the wall or floor using at least two rag-bolts passing through an internal anchor plate of mild steel of at least 3mm thickness, and a surface area of at least 19,355mm2
